Emory is the county seat of Rains County, the fourth smallest county in Texas! We are bound by world class bass fishing Lake Fork on the east and premier recreation Lake Tawakoni on the west. We are only 65 miles east of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex; halfway between 1-20 and 1-30, and at the intersection of State Highway 19 & U.S. Highway 69. Our location, combined with the current growth trend the area is experiencing, makes Emory and Rains County ripe for new businesses and industry (for both the entrepreneur as well as large corporations) AND a great place to live or visit! The education of the area’ s children is ably provided by a countywide school campus, Rains ISD. In 1995, the 74th Legislature of the state of Texas passed a resolution declaring Rains County the
“Eagle Capital of Texas” . This led to Eagle Fest, an annual event
, the first weekend in February, featuring guided bus and barge tours to Lake Fork, distinguished speakers, and live bird demonstrations. Other community activities include Rains County Founders Day Festival, the Rains County Fair & Classics Round the Square, and Christmas on the Square! A network of civic and social organizations, chambers of commerce, and three volunteer fire departments provides a strong backbone of community service with an emphasis on family values.

Emory, Texas — No pretense, . . . a place where you can just be yourself!
